Lectio Divina and Centering Prayer
This group will follow a format for group Lectio Divina. A reading from the upcoming Sunday’s liturgy will be read four times with silence following each reading. During the first reading, participants listen for a word or short phrase that “speaks” to them. This word may be held in the heart or spoken aloud to the group. After the second reading, participants may offer a reflection on whatever that word or phrase has stirred up within them. The key is to be brief – only a few sentences or a “twig” put in the center of the virtual circle. Listening to the third reading, participants sink into their hearts and may respond, if they wish, with short prayer. After the fourth and final reading, twenty minutes of silence is kept. We will open and close the silence with a prayer.
