The workshop is now full. Stay tuned here for our next workshop offering.

As recent events have made clear, there is something wrong with this world, the way we inhabit it, and how we relate to one another. We are beginning to understand that how we are treated by the world and how we see the world is heavily dependent on the color of our skin. For those of us who are white, we need to ask some basic questions. What does it mean to see the world through our whiteness? How do we contribute to the systems of domination and control? And how can we move forward in a more just and loving manner?

The work of self-transformation is hard. Why bother? As Layla Saad says in her book, Me and White Supremacy (our workbook),

If you are a person who believes in love, justice, integrity, and equity for all people, then you know that this work is nonnegotiable. If you are a person who wants to become a good ancestor, then you know that this work is some of the most important work that you will be called to do in your lifetime.

If you are ready to do the work of self transformation, then we invite you to join us (Roger Sessions and Laura Truax) for a 5 week study/meditation group. Our awareness and transformation will be nurtured through shared silence, focused listening and daily journaling. Using Me and White Supremacy, by Layla Saad, as a guide, this group will meet weekly on Monday evenings for meditation and facilitated discussion. Participants will be expected to spend 20 – 30 minutes a day reading and reflecting on a daily writing prompt. Each prompt focuses on an aspect of racial awareness and the systems structured around race. Our weekly conversations will pivot around the lessons and experiences of that week’s reading and writing.

Mondays 5:15 – 6:15 PM CT
